Soul Food - Audio

<itunes:author>Thomas Nelson</itunes:author>

This podcast message comes from a sermon preached at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church on February 17, 2019. We are looking at Jesus' odd words when He is the "bread of life" and his command to "eat my flesh and drink my blood". We hope this sermon helps you dig deep past our common way of thinking that Jesus, plus what He can give us, are what we need to be satisfied. In reality Jesus alone is more than enough to satisfy. We hope you enjoy and are challenged and are changed.

Episode 10: Suicide - Exposing the Trauma - Audio

<itunes:author>Thomas Nelson</itunes:author>

This is a special podcast episode that we hesitated to post. Parker Brasfield was a well liked and loved guy from Marietta, Ga, who, to the surprise of all, took his life in mid January 2019. In the aftermath, Thomas Nelson was asked to do his memorial service which was recorded. After the service, person after person asked that we release the audio, feeling it might help others talk about suicide in a safe environment. Our hope is that in losing Parker, others might be spared. Listen and think and pray and discuss. If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide, have a plan on how you would end your life, or know someone who does, please call 1-800-273-8255.

Episode 5 - Part 2 of the Ten Commandments - God's name and Sabbath - Audio

<itunes:author>Thomas Nelson</itunes:author>

It's our second look at the 10 Commandments. This week we look at the commands regarding taking God's name in vain and keeping the Sabbath. What does God really mean by honoring His name and is it possible for me to break this command without ever using a curse word next to the name of God? Is the sabbath something we are still supposed to literally do for a 24 hour period in the New Testament church? And, of course, we look at the why. Why did God choose these to be 2 of the 10 most important commands? I hope you'll find this interesting and engaging. If you like it, pass it along to a friend.

Do the dead roam the earth? Can spirits really haunt a place? How strong are demons? Are there more than 3 dimensions? These questions and more will be answered through the Scriptures in this series on the supernatural. This week, in part 1 we look at Angels, Demons, and how they move among us even when we can't see them. We also look at demonic influence in world religions such as Islam and Mormonism, as well as some "Christian" churches.

What does it mean to say the church has become self contained? The church as a whole seems to have a skewed view of the individual Christian's role in sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus. This is the intro to our current series on what it means to say that the church is Self-Contained. If we are called to Go to the nations in Matthew 28, why do we live so often in our 'holy huddle'?
